“Watch out, it'll go straight to your hips!“, “You have to be careful or you'll get fat!”, “Do you really want another piece of cake? You've already had one!“ Do you recognise these comments? They show how strongly the focus is on the appearance of the female body in our westernised culture.
This work artistically explores the interplay between female eating behaviour and female beauty ideals. Can we eat free of stereotyping, simply because we need food, without having to think about what food does to our bodies? This work aims to show that the body can be what it is, regardless of what it eats.
